Whataburger opened its first Natchitoches location at 902 Keyser Ave. July 12 with approximately 40 employees on site for opening day rush. Restaurants are recognized by distinctive orange and white stripes and its large menu.

Features of the new Whataburger include double drive-thru lanes, a large parking lot, an open-concept dining room and custom-designed wall art to honor Natchitoches’ hometown landmarks. Whataburger has partnered with Northwestern State University to sponsor its athletics program.

Whataburger has Natchitoches and NSU themed decor.

The Whataburger team of 100 local employees will be led by Shindy Culbert. Dining room is open from 6 a.m. -10 p.m. and drive-thru is open 24/7.

Whataburger, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, opened its first store in 1950. The first Whatburger based in Corpus Christi sold burgers for 25 cents. Harmon Dobson, Whataburger’s founder, hoped for a burger big enough you had to hold it with both hands and that it tasted so good customers would say, “What a burger!”

The burger chain has more than 50,000 employees at its 850 locations in 10 states including, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
