The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises motorists that beginning July 27 there will be lane closures on La. 6 Business (University Parkway) in Natchitoches.
These lane closures are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. July 27 and reopen at 5 p.m. July 28.
The closures are necessary to allow utility work, and will require a detour for through traffic.
If driving west bound between Behan St. and MLK Dr., detour north onto Caspari St., proceed west onto Bossier St., proceed south onto MLK Dr. and back to La. 6 Business. Drivers traveling west bound between 2nd St. and Boyd St. will detour onto 2nd St., proceed west onto Bossier St., proceed south onto Boyd St. and back to La. 6 Business. Large trucks driving driving north bound on La. 1 must take La. 1 Bypass to La. 6 Business intersection. An additional route for large trucks heading southbound on Jefferson St. will take La. 1223 to La. 1 then proceed to La. 1 Bypass to the intersection of La. 1 and La. 6.
Roadwork is contingent on permitting weather.
DOTD advises to drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near an active construction zone.
