Completion of replacing the Hurricane Laura damaged metal roof of the Nakatosh Condominium on Front Street is about a week away according to Kyle Smith with Roofing Solutions. “It’s been a roof job I will not soon forget,” he said. There is still fascia to paint and all the outside trim and ceilings. One unit on the third floor was so damaged a full renovation was needed.

“Everything is looking good like it’s going to come together and it can be wrapped up this week, and all the equipment on the street and hanging over the sidewalks can be removed,” Smith said. Construction started July 26. “The million dollar project is a roof to remember,” he said. “We had to fabricate the roof in the condominium’s parking lot and lift it up some 40 feet and re-construct on top. Our workers have been working hanging on lifelines for the past month.”
