City prepares for potential Hurricane Ida

City of Natchitoches
Once again we must stand strong and united as a natural disaster threatens to invade our state. We know all too well the damaging effects of a hurricane and as such we should prepare accordingly. Please take appropriate action to ensure you and your family have the supplies required to shelter in place if needed. Also remember that others will need to do the same so avoid stockpiling supplies such that a deficit is created.
Sand bags are available today (Friday, Aug. 27) at the Natchitoches Public Works department located at 110 Mill Street between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. In case of power outage, contact the Natchitoches Utility Department at (318) 357-3850 or (318) 357-3880.
Please be safe if you use a generator. Ensure your generator is placed outside your home with adequate ventilation. If you see a downed power line, do not approach it. If you encounter a flooded street, remember the saying, “turn around, don’t drown.”
All City Departments including Public Works, Utility, Police and Fire stand prepared to serve during this uncertain time.
