The deadline to register to vote in person or by mail is Sept. 8. Deadline to register to vote through the GeauxVote Online Registration System is Sept. 18.

Early voting is Sept. 25-Oct. 2 (excluding Sunday, Sept. 26) from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Registrar of Voters office at the Parish Courthouse, 200 Church St.

Deadline to request anabsentee ballot is Oct. 5 by 4:30 p.m. Absentee voting is intended for voters who will be out of the parish on Election Day and the week of Early Voting or if the person is age 65 or older or has a mobility impaired ID card. Fax request to 318-357-2212 or mail to Registrar of voters, POB 677, Natchitoches, LA 71457.

Written request forms can be downloaded at www.sos.la.gov Under “elections” click “vote” then “vote by mail.” Request must include name, address, date of birth, Social Security Number or driver’s license number, reason the ballot is requested, election date, address where ballot is to be mailed and voter’s signature.

Deadline for a registrar of voters to receive a voted absentee ballot is Oct. 8 by 4:30 p.m.

Military and overseas voter ballots must be returned to the Registrar’s office by mail or fax before noon on Election Day.
