“Overall it was the kind of game we expected. We knew we were going to be in for a fight. They are a very good football team with very talented players,” said head coach Jamaes Wilkerson. “I am really proud of our guys for finishing the game that we needed. That is a big difference from last year. I thought our defense really stepped it up in the second half as a whole. It was a big challenge for them tonight. Brayln Demars sparked us with a big special teams play, and Jason Jackson with a pick-six.

Our quarterback, BJ Young, who didn’t have a great first half but really came on strong, did what a good quarterback should do. He had a short memory, made some big plays with his feet and completed some big passes in crucial moments.

Cayln Demars continues to carry us and make big plays. I think it was an overall team effort, and as coaches we really needed to see what we would do if we got in a tight game and tonight I think our boys did a really good job.”

The Chiefs took the lead with 27 seconds to go in the second quarter to carry a 7 point lead into halftime. After that it was all chiefs! Defense shut down the warhorses, scoring on a scoop and score, and the offense scored 2 touchdowns to close out the game 41-14.

They face off against West Ouachita at home in Turpin Stadium next week for week three.
