Lakeview Senior High Gators (1-1) varsity football earned their first win last Friday with a 40-0 shutout victory against the Beekman Charter Tigers (1-1). The win moved the Gators up to 38 in Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 2A rankings and kept them at fourth in Class 2A District 3 rankings. In week one, the Gators took on Tensas and lost 22-6 in a tough non-district battle.
Last week, they came out victorious and erased their bad fortunes from the week before. The green and orange controlled the game against Beekman and pose a threat to their Friday opponent, the Rayville Hornets, who have the same 1-1 overall record. Rayville is coming into this Lakeview game forfeiting their week one match versus Jena and winning against Montgomery 50-46.
The Class 2A District 3 Hornets start their district play next Friday, playing Ferriday at home. With this in mind, Lakeview is ready to revamp their 6-5 winning season to a better degree as it was in 2019. The 2020 season, with lots of doubts and cancellations, is only seen as a way to improve and set the bar higher than their 2-5 record.
Green and orange Gator fans can attend this Friday’s home game against non-district Rayville at 7 p.m. in the Swamp.
