Funeral services for Charles Wayne “Mott” Birdwell, 72, of Marthaville will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5 at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Brian Jennings officiating.  Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4 at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church.  Funeral services under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta.

Mott was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Oak Grove and passed away Oct. 2, 2021.

Mott no longer has any physical limitations or communication difficulties.  He is rejoicing in heaven, speaking clear as day, most likely talking his mama and daddy’s ears off.  Mott will always be one of the most unique and loving people any of us will ever meet.  He had a wonderful life, in spite of his differences.  To know Mott was to love him.  He will definitely be missed in the community and in our hearts, but the thought of him pain free, cutting up and joking around with those gone on before him like he loved to do is a comforting image we will never forget.  Thank you to everyone for loving him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther “Preacher” Birdwell and Allie Birdwell; three brothers, James, Thomas and Lester; and two sisters, Deverne and Carolyn.

Mott is survived by one brother, Carl Birdwell and wife Margaret; sister, Mildred McPhearson and husband Bobby; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Gary Birdwell, Mike Birdwell, Clifford Shoemaker, Joey Powell, Stanley Davis, Eric Hassan, Ted Singletary and John Vercher.
