The following criminal cases were heard Oct. 4-8 in the 10th Judicial District Court.

Oct. 8

RACHAL, RODERICK, 42, misdemeanor Sexual Battery, misdemeanor Hate Crime, Simple Battery and Resisting an Officer. For the hate crime, simple battery and resisting an officer, the defendant is sentenced to serve six months in the parish jail, all to run consecutive, for a total of 18 months, credit for time served. For the misdemeanor sexual battery, sentenced to serve six months in the parish jail, suspended; placed on one year supervised probation. All matters to run consecutive. Judge Lala Sylvester.

Oct. 7

FESTAVAN, RICHARD, 50, Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated- 3rd offense. Sentenced to 5 years hard labor with the La. Department of Corrections (LDOC). Court advised that this sentence must be served without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. Court advised that this sentence is to run consecutive to any other sentence currently serving. Court ordered the defendant to pay a fine in the amount of $2,000. Court made special recommendation that the defendant receives substance abuse treatment. Remanded to the custody of LDOC through Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. Judge Desiree Dyess.
