One way to spread Christmas cheer this holiday season and give back to the community is through Christmas cards! Through the Natchitoches Christmas Card Project, you can create Christmas cards that will delight the residents of local nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.
The Natchitoches Christmas Card Project is having two community card signing events at the Natchitoches Parish Library this year. The first is Saturday, Nov. 6 and the second Saturday, Dec. 18. Both events are from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the main library branch in Natchitoches. Cards, supplies and example messages will be provided. All cards will be delivered by Natchitoches Christmas Card Project volunteers in December.
You can still help by donating Christmas cards if you can’t make it to these events. Cards, both blank and signed, are accepted at the Natchitoches Parish Library, located at 450 Second St. Look for the Natchitoches Christmas Card Project Donation Box located on the first floor near the information desk. Another way to help is by hosting or joining a Card Signing Party.
About the Natchitoches Christmas Card Project
The Natchitoches Christmas Card Project was started in 2018 by someone who wanted to make a difference in her neighborhood. This person began collecting and writing messages in Christmas cards to people who are frequently forgotten about by society: the elderly, infirm, and their family and caregivers. She shared her idea of sending holiday love and support with a few friends who decided that they too would like to make a difference.
