Natchitoches Central’s varsity volleyball team earns the No. 17 seed in this year’s Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Division I rankings. The Lady Chiefs played in their Bi-District match against No. 16 Northshore Wednesday, Nov. 3 in Slidell at 5 p.m.
NCHS ended their regular season with six straight losses in tournament play, the most recent coming from Westlake in a 2-1 defeat in the Dunham tournament. Despite those odds, the Lady Chiefs landed second behind Ruston in Division I District 1 rankings. The Lady Chiefs have potential to make a large run in the playoffs. Their only loss in District 1 came from the Ruston Lady Bearcats in September. Since then, the only losses for NCHS were the results of the tournaments.
Northshore came into this game winning their last two in the Isidore Newman tournament weekend, winning 3-0 against Covington and Slidell, respectively. NHS sits third in Division I District 5 rankings, just below Mandeville and Fountainbleu. Despite Hurricane Ida being the cause of moving/cancelling most of Northshore’s games, the Lady Panthers are in a good position heading into the LHSAA Volleyball State Tournament.
