Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Linn Rawls were at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with hte Rev. Charlotte Birdwell officiating.  Burial followed at Jennings Chapel Cemetery in Marthaville.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Drake Averitt, Robert “Dusty” Averitt, Alex Harvill, Jack Harvill, Brad Sandifer and Coy Birdwell.

Edith, 93, and a long-time resident of Natchitoches passed away Nov. 18, 2021, in Bossier City. She was born May 6, 1928, to Leau Linn and Elizabeth Dall Linn near Frankfurt, Germany.

She met the love of her life, Obra, while he was stationed with the Army in Europe.  Upon Obra retiring from the military, he and Edith traveled extensively throughout Germany and most of Europe.  At the age of 62 she became an immigrant and moved to the United States.  Although she never had children, she loved to be around children and always treated her nieces and nephews like they were her own.  She enjoyed taking care of her home and would always welcome family and friends to drop by for a visit, which always included a cup of coffee and possibly a game of cards.  Edith was an intelligent lady who was fluent in five languages.  She will always be remembered for being a loving person and greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Obra Rawls; and parents, Leau Linn and Elizabeth Dall Linn.

She is survived by her nieces, Virginia Sandifer and husband Jerry of Bossier and Audrey Sims of Haughton; as well as an extended family that includes numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
