Dear Editor:
As we embark on the holiday season, we have faced many obstacles throughout our little town. The town has lost its Christmas spirit along the way was from a little town where we remember riding through looking at the lights at Christmas to pure dark streets for the past few years due to not enough people to lend a helping hand. Let’s make a change this year. The town of Montgomery would like to give everyone the opportunity to light up the town as in past years. We welcome all.

If you would like to decorate a tree, an area, buy a light feature or even donate funds/time or whatever you can, we encourage you to do so. If you choose a certain tree, please let us know so we can make that possible so there will be no confusion.
We ask if placing ornaments on the trees, please use plastic to help our town workers. You can name a memory tree for a lost loved one that is no longer with us. This will be your tree to decorate how you’d like. We ask that all trees be decorated for family atmosphere.
We encourage businesses in the City limits or residences to decorate also. Contact Debbie LaCroix at 318-332-4825, Rebecca Racine 225-361-1468 or Melissa Tilton if you would like more information or plan to decorate so we are aware. We want all to have it one by the week of Nov. 30.
We are planning to light it up by Dec. 1 so they are enjoyed. Our goal is to restore the excitement of Christmas this year and years to come.
Anita McCracken, Montgomery Town Clerk
