NATCHITOCHES – Classes at Northwestern State University will resume Monday, Jan. 10 for the Spring 2022 semester.  Registration for classes will be available through Sunday, Jan. 9 with late registration continuing through Jan. 19.  Students are encouraged to meet with academic advisors to schedule classes. Registration information is available at https://www.nsula.edu/registrar/.

To ensure a safe return to NSU, students must upload proof of vaccination, updated vaccine information or the Immunization Compliance Form prior to class registration.  Documents can be uploaded at applications@nsula.edu.

Like other schools in the University of Louisiana System, NSU has enacted a temporary requirement for face masks in indoor spaces on all campuses, regardless of vaccination status.  This includes classrooms, common spaces and other indoor areas where students gather.

“While there has been an increase in COVID cases, we remain confident that our policies, including proof of vaccination or waivers for students, faculty and staff, help reduce the risk of COVID-19 outbreaks within the campus community,” said NSU President Dr. Marcus Jones.  “We are optimistic going into the spring semester since the university has successfully conducted in-person classes and campus activities throughout the pandemic.”

Administrators will continue to monitor local conditions, UL System guidelines and federal mandates related to COVID-19 and will adapt plans as necessary to assure the safety of the campus community, Jones said. The latest information on the university’s COVID protocols can be found at https://www.nsula.edu/return-to-campus/.

Residence halls will open on Jan. 8.  For the safety of all students, access to residence hall is limited to current residents.  Students who need assistance in the housing process should contact the Office of Housing and Residential Life by email at nsuleasing@campushousing.com.  Quarantine policies and protocols can be found at https://www.nsula.edu/return-to-campus/protocols/.

Iberville Dining Hall will open Jan.  8.

As part of the university’s commitment to public health, NSU will continue to host vaccination clinics on campus beginning Thursday, Jan. 13, in the Orville Hanchey Gallery.

“We are excited for students to return to campus for classes and other events and activities,” Jones said. “We will remain vigilant with safety initiatives and will provide updates on classes, COVID protocols and other information at our website, www.nsula.edu, and on social media.”
