Update: CrimeStoppers tip leads to arrest of Attempted Second-Degree Murder suspect


The Natchitoches Police Department, with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Office, has arrested Elijah Collins, b/m, 20, of Natchitoches for a shooting that occurred last month at the Natchitoches Thomas Apartments.
Late last week Crime Stoppers of Natchitoches received a tip that Elijah Collins was in the Greater Baton Rouge area. NPD detectives contacted the United States Marshal’s Office in Baton Rouge who placed Collins under arrest without incident.
Collins was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and is charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder.

The Natchitoches Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night at the Natchitoches Thomas Apartments.

On Dec. 5, 2021, around 5:45 p.m., NPD officers were notified by Natchitoches Regional Medical Center that an individual was brought to the hospital suffering from several gunshot wounds. They learned the victim was shot at the Natchitoches Thomas Apartments.
The victim was later airlifted to a hospital in Caddo Parish where they are listed in moderate condition.
