Candidates qualify for March election, 2 unopposed


Two candidates will be unopposed in the March 26 election after only one person qualified for each of those offices.
Lela Harvey was unopposed for the school board seat in District 5. She is listed as a Black female with no party candidate and will fill the unexpired term of Katrina Willis who moved. The term will expire Dec. 31
Village of Natchez Police Chief Michael Gillie Jr. was unopposed in his bid for re-election. Gillie is a Black male with no party affiliation.

Three people qualified for mayor of the Village of Natchez. They are:
•John Thomas Groce, Black male, no party affiliation
•Patsy Ward Hoover, Black female no party affiliation.
•Incumbent Rosia Lee Humphery, black female Democrat
Six people qualified for alderman of the Village of Natchez. Three will be elected.
They are:
•Jennifer Slate Berry, Black female, Democrat
•Incumbent Amos R. Bradley, Black male, Democrat.
•Jaquana Grayson, Black female, Democrat
•McKindley Hoover Sr., Black male, Democrat
•Incumbent Shelia Johnson, Black female, Democrat
•Incumbent Monique Hamilton Sarpy, Black female, Democrat
The Natchez candidates are being elected for new terms that begin July 1.
