Just Talkin’

Another cold snap is coming our way…soon. And of course it will be around for the weekend.
JT doesn’t really mind the cold as much as he does the wind. Since there are no more football playoff games, he’ll have to find a good book and some inside chores to keep him busy. He’s tried cleaning the house, but has been told he’s not good at it…”but thanks for trying.”
Speaking of this weekend, JT is going to be checking his closet for warm clothing …because he really wants to see the Baylor Lady Bears softball team in the Lady Demons Classic tournament. Baylor will face Northwestern on Saturday around 2 p.m. The tournament runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Baylor is reportedly using a field at Posey Parc to practice during the weekend.
In addition to Baylor, UT Chattanooga, UT Martin and Arkansas-Pine Bluff are scheduled to play.
Demon Coach Donald Pickett is hosting his alma mater, UT Chattanooga, for the first time on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Lady Demon Diamond.
If you are in need of some heat…..you might want to visit the state capitol during the reapportionment session or the regular session to follow. From all indications there will be a lot of folks getting “hot under the collar.”
For once, JT can’t wait for the Super Bowl. He’s done with the halftime shows since he hasn’t understood the words to the songs in probably 10 years…but the Louisiana flavor of the game is exciting.
He’s pretty sure most of Louisiana will be pulling for Joe Burrows and Cincinnati. After all, this is the Year of the Tiger according to the Chinese New Year. The Bengals have four former LSU Tigers, Burrows, Ja’Marr Chase, Thaddeus Moss and Tyler Shelvin. They also have a Tulane guy, Cameron Sample, and a La Techster, Trent Taylor.
Los Angeles will have two former Tigers, Odell Beckham Jr. and Andrew Whitworth. Their only other Louisiana player is from USL, Raymond Calais, who’s on injured reserve.
Then he’s told there’s a Bengal cheerleader that’s from Shreveport and one of the officials on the field is also from the Bayou State.
What a weird month we are having with the number 2. This entire month is 2-22. Yesterday was 2-2-22. Later this month we’ll have 2-22-22.
Just for the heck of it, JT is going to set the alarm on his phone to go off when it’s
2:22 pm on 2-22-22. Also, the number 3 gets into the game. Many first graders are making time capsules that they sealed 2-2-22 and will open 3-3-33, their graduation year.
For the shortest month of the year, there are a lot of special days in February.
The Chinese New Year began Tuesday, Groundhog Day was Wednesday, Valentine’s Day is on the 14th and President’s Day is the 21st.
It’s also American Heart Month, Black History Month, LGBT + History month, National Bird Feeding Month, National Children’s Dental Health Month and Turner Syndrome Awareness Month.
Do we really need all these monthly designations? Shouldn’t they be on our radar every month?
It must be another one of those conspiracy things where those companies that make greeting cards are just looking for ways to sell more cards. They are probably in cahoots with people who make calendars so all the days of the month won’t be blank.
