
Natchitoches Humane Society is organizing a pet health fair Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Ben Johnson Auditorium. The pet health fair is part of NHS Operation Healthy Paws campaign to provide Natchitoches Parish residents with access to preventative pet care.
Attendees will be offered vouchers for free spaying and neutering procedures along with vaccination against rabies at local low-cost clinics. The spaying, neutering and vaccination services will not be provided during the event, but volunteers are available to help attendees schedule appointments at participating clinics.
Residents of Natchitoches Parish with unspayed or un-neutered pets are eligible to receive one voucher per household. Animal rescue organizations will not be not be eligible. Vouchers are available first come, first serve. Attendees will also receive goodie bags including flea and tick prevention products, a collar and a leash. Attendees will also be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card to Wal-Mart after their pet is spayed or neutered.
Funding for Operation Healthy Paws is provided by a Rachel Ray Save Them All Grant and awarded by the Best Friends Network of animal shelters.
