Suits filed against school, school district

Two suits were filed in the parish within the last month naming a school and the school district as defendants.
The first suit was filed by David Devillier against LSMSA and the State of Louisiana. According to the suit, Devillier was employed as residential student life advisor at LSMSA and seeks restitution for unpaid salary and other fees and costs. Citations notifying the defendants, LSMSA in care of Executive Director Dr. Steve Horton, State of La. Board of Education in care of State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley; and the State of Louisiana in care of Attorney General Jeff Landry were issued March 11.

The second suit names the Natchitoches Parish School Board and Grant Eloi, individually and in his official capacity as Superintendent and Personnel File Custodian of the NPSB. Andrea N. Murphy filed the suit March 23 seeking injunctive relief and damages related to loss of position as Natchitoches Central High School volleyball coach and loss of wages. According to the suit, Murphy declares her dismissal violated state school law and NPSB policies. She also seeks the dismissal become null and void and she be reinstated as head volleyball coach. Citations notifying the defendants, Grant Eloi, and the NPSB in care of Board President Reba Phelps were executed March 25.
