Signage declaring a second Pizza Hut location in the City went up on University Parkway this week. It is in University Plaza next to Smoothie King at the corner of University and Martin Luther King.

The location was announced earlier this month in the March permits report… It stated, “Waskom Management Services LLC obtained a permit for commercial exterior renovations at 810 University Parkway A for $65,000.” The name of the business was not announced at the time. Waskom Management Services LLC obtained a permit at the same time for $210,000 for addition and alterations at 107 South Drive B to build shelled office spaces. That location is near Roma’s Italian Restaurant.

The third commercial permit that month was to Keyser Avenue Properties LLC. They secured a permit with a valuation of $400,000 at 411 Keyser Ave., the site of a new Arby’s.

Another business being touted on the internet as having interest in Natchitoches is Smalls Sliders. The announcement first appeared on kalb.com, Channel 5 news, Alexandria. Their report stated “Smalls Sliders has announced that locations in Alexandria, Pineville and Natchitoches will be built” and “The new franchise locations will be owned and operated by two local Alexandria based owners, Ricky Tompkins and Byron Mitchell – who have operated the Alexandria Walk-On’s from its opening.” Customers can order burgers, shakes and fries through the walk-up window or drive-thru.

The Times confirmed both men were once managers at the Alexandria Walk-Ons location, but were not the owners, although one did have stock in it at one time.
The Times checked with Mayor Ronnie Williams Jr. and City Planning and Zoning Director Shontrell Roque. No permits have been issued and no location has been determined.
The cheeseburger slider drive-thru restaurant is based in Baton Rouge.
