Campti man’s death being investigated as homicide


Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Detectives are actively investigating a homicide in Campti.
NATCOM 911 Center received reports Thursday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. of a male lying at the end of Roberson Street near the St. Paul Methodist Church in Campti.
Deputies and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded.
Paramedics discovered a deceased male.
Sheriff Stuart Wright, Natchitoches Parish District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington, NPSO Detectives, Campti Police, Agents with the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force and the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office responded.
Detectives say Darnell Jermaine Browder, 39, of the 200 block of Juzan Street, Campti, was pronounced dead at the scene by Natchitoches Parish Asst. Coroner Steven Clanton.
Clanton stated Browder died hours earlier as a result of gunshot wounds. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
Detectives photographed and processed the crime scene looking for evidence or clues that may lead to an arrest. They also executed a search warrant Thursday afternoon signed by a 10th Judicial District Judge at Browder’s residence to search for evidence.
The body is being transported to Shreveport for an autopsy.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
