Funeral services for Dennis Wade Birdwell were at 10 a.m. Monday, June 6 at Jennings Chapel in the Bethany Community with Bro. Brian Jennings and Bro. Joe Hendrickson officiating. Burial followed at McCaskill Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis.
Dennis, 66, and a resident of Marthaville, passed away June 3, 2022. He was born Dec.17, 1955, to Harvey and Maxine Birdwell in Pleasant Hill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Birdwell; paternal grandparents, George and Lottie Birdwell; and maternal grandparents, Luther and Mattie Jennings.
He is survived by his son, Casey Birdwell and wife Tina and daughter, Jamie; mother, Maxine Birdwell; brothers, Bobby Birdwell, Mervin Birdwell and wife Connie, and Winston Birdwell and wife Teresa; nieces and nephews, Trey Birdwell and wife Nicole and their children, Carter, Channing and Aybee, Jennifer Cheramie and husband Ethan and their children, Jackson, Annabelle and Grayson, Nicole Watkins and husband Jeremy and their children, Nicholas and Luke, Katie Birdwell, and Wesley Birdwell and wife Jenny and their children, Taylor and Wyatt.
Dennis had many occupations throughout the course of his life. He retired from being a cattle rancher, the Natchitoches Parish School Board, La. Department of Agriculture and from the Natchitoches Parish Police Jury where he was a road grader.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Randy Hilliard, James Procell, Brian Procell, Justin Bufkin, Justin Free, Joe Jacobs, Forrest Vueleman and Scottie Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Jody Free, Mike Birdwell, Nolan Patrick, Frank Leone, Chris Birdwell, Trey Birdwell, Wesley Birdwell and Joe Curl.
