Funeral services for Dezilee S. Pepper, 96, of Campti will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Olan McLaren officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pepper was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Chestnut and passed away July 17, 2022.
Mrs. Pepper was a Christian lady who will be remembered as a lady who always did things her way. Many friends are now reminding the family of this character trait that she will always be remembered for. She had a green thumb and enjoyed her flowers and plants. Mrs. Pepper also had a talent of crocheting. She crocheted angels which were distributed throughout the parish. She also crocheted the hats and booties that were given to the newborns at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. She was also able to crochet a baby blanket for every grandchild and great-grandchild. Mrs. Dezilee loved her family and treasured the times they spent together. She will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.E. Pepper; son, John C. Pepper; parents, Henry and Georgia Stevenson; four brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Pepper is survived by four sons, Stanley Hammond Jr., Jerry Hammond, Daniel A. Pepper and wife Carla, and Max C. Pepper and wife Jill; two daughters, Laura Warren and husband Mike and Margie Hicks and husband Mark; two sisters, Ruey Stewart and Cynthia Hammond; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons Clint Pepper, Matthew Pepper, Thad Warren, Dan Pepper, Austin Bledsoe and Kevin Berly.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Aton, Michael Williams, Quinton McCallister and J. J. Hicks.
