Mason McCart, a senior at St. Mary’s Catholic School, was recently elected as the President of the National Beta Club at the National Beta Club Conference in Nashville, Tenn.   He is the son of Jon and Carmella McCart of Natchitoches

Mason McCart, a senior at St. Mary’s Catholic School, was recently elected as the President of the National Beta Club at the National Beta Club Conference in Nashville, Tenn.

McCart also serves as the president of the Louisiana State Beta Club, after being elected to that office in March.  
The mission of the Beta Club is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.  Michael Landry, a history teacher at St. Mary’s, has been the club sponsor for 30 years.  This is the second consecutive year for the school’s club to have a national officer.  Anna Kate Jackson was elected as national president in 2021.

With the campaign slogan, “McCart Has Heart!” he competed against 12 other candidates for the office.  He was assisted by his fellow school Beta members, Reaves Hogg, Anna Kate Jackson and Mason Melder.  Louisiana State Beta Members also joined with the campaigning and other representatives from Louisiana placed in the top three slots for the officer categories of vice president and secretary.
