Bill Allen appointed to fill vacant Parish Council seat

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Tuesday he appointed William “Bill” Allen to fill the vacancy in District 2 on the Natchitoches Parish Council.
The vacancy occurred with the resignation of Patsy Ward-Hoover who was elected Mayor of the Village of Natchez.
The Parish Council was unable to reach a majority vote during a special called meeting and that called for Edwards to make the appointment.
Allen is owner of William Allen On Site Tax Service at 1730 Texas St. His residence in District 2 is at 835 Patrick Road in the Point Place Subdivision.

Allen, who says he is best known as “Mr. Bill” does not plan to seek election to the office in December. “I’m here to satisfy my friend, the Governor, who said, ‘I need you.’”
A native of Texas, Allen has been a Natchitoches resident since 2007 when he and his wife, the former Judy Gallien, moved here to be near her family. Before that he was a manufacturing manager at General Motors in Michigan.
Allen holds a bachelor of science degree from Prairie View A&M University in addition to certificates from the General Motors Institute. He has several businesses that operate under the name U B Services LLC.
Allen has been on the Natchitoches Parish Port Commission for 10 years.

NOTE: Since this story published, Allen qualified, unopposed, for the seat.
