Lakeview introduces new principal at Open House


Gator Nation kicked off the new school year with its annual open house Tuesday, Aug. 9. This was an opportunity for families, students and community members to meet the new Lakeview Jr./Sr. High School principal, visit with teachers and organization sponsors and taste what the Culinary Arts department is already cooking.

Karla Renter, the new principal, began the evening with introductions and a brief overview of what the year holds. She also reviewed current scores and the vision for building an A school with the help of students, parents and community members. Additionally, individual LEAP 2025 test results were available for parents to pick up.

Testing coordinator Lawrence Seawood also had a hand out available for parents and guests with LEAP 2025 test dates for the current school year.
Guests visited the tables and spoke with teachers, coaches and organization sponsors.
Natchitoches Parish Library was on hand to advocate for literacy and let everyone know about activities that the library hosts. The Christus School Based Health Center was available to help parents enroll their children in the health center. Sherry Helms and the Culinary Arts students baked cookies and made fresh raspberry tea as refreshments.
