Cook up some fun at Meatpie Festival that will have kids activities, motorcycle run, and more


The Natchitoches Meat Pie Festival will celebrate its 20th year on the downtown riverbank the weekend of Sept. 16-17. The festival includes activities for everyone with the Brewfest beer tasting Friday evening, Christian youth group performances Saturday morning, and a climbing wall and bouncing inflatables for children throughout the free to attend event.

The  Cane River Run for motorcycle enthusiasts will also begin and end at the festival; the ride begins at noon, Sept. 17 with registration beginning at 9 a.m.

As home of the meat pie, the Natchitoches Meat Pie Festival celebrates the culinary tradition of the region with both a meat pie cooking competition judged by local aficionados and a meat pie eating contest to test the meddle of the hungriest competitors.

Casual connoisseurs may enjoy the local delicacy along with other cuisine offered from a variety of food vendors at the event. The festival will feature music by the Lacour Trio, the Bernie Allen Band, R.J. and Zydeco Smoove, Bad Moon Rising and more. The festival will also host hot air balloon rides, free activities sponsored by the Natchitoches Parish Library, an appearance by the winner of the Meat Pie Queen pageant and will culminate in an evening fireworks show.

The event is sponsored by the Independent Motorcycle Riders of Natchitoches(IMRN), which contributes to organizations like the Boys and Girls Club and the Natchitoches Coalition on Homelessness throughout the year. Proceeds from the event will go toward IMRN’s charitable activities.
