The long awaited Bishop’s Bowl matchup between St. Mary’s Catholic School and Holy Savior Menard of Alexandria did not disappoint for Tiger fans!
St. Mary’s started off with one of the strongest first quarters in recent memory with an early lead of 21-0. The first touchdowns were scored by Joe Metoyer off a 30 yard run, Drake Griffin with a 7 yard reception, the pass made by Adam Parker and Parker with a 1 yard run. All touchdowns were accompanied with extra points courtesy of Payne Williams.
Menard could not work past the strong defense of the Tigers and were completely shut out of the first three quarters. The third quarter points came from yet another touchdown from the Tigers by number 6 Ben Bienvenu, bringing the score to 28-0. However, the Eagles still had some fight.
During the fourth quarter, the Eagles made a phenomenal 43 yard pass touchdown completed by Jaden Lewis with Ryan Hicks on the extra point. With a final touchdown by St. Mary’s in the last quarter by Drake Griffin, the game was sealed.
The St. Mary’s Tigers won the Second Annual Bishop’s Bowl with a final score of 35-7. Trainer Olivia Gillis said, “I was not surprised because our boys always come together and know how to play when the time comes. We have been working hard all
week.” The Tigers now up their record to 2-1 as they travel to DeQuincy this Friday. Tiger football is back!
