Dear Editor,
Regarding the JT column in the September 8 edition of the Natchitoches Times, the statement that Louisiana Tech stopped playing NSU in Shreveport because they “got tired of beating us” is inaccurate. Honestly, I do not see the need to make a comment like that which is demeaning to the local university. Rather (as JT noted), Tech began playing more big name opponents and that had to do with its move to what was then called the Division I-A Football Subdivision. Ironically, the year that Tech moved to I-A – 1988 – was the year NSU had a national championship caliber team. I wish we had had the opportunity to play them that year with several future NFL players on the roster.
Thank you – Greg Burke
