Funeral services for Alvin T. “Skip” Vaughan Jr., 75, of Fairview Alpha will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 at Davis Springs Southern Methodist Church with Bro. Olan McLaren officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at the church. Services under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home.
Mr. Vaughan was born Nov. 27, 1946, in West Point, Ga., and passed away Sept. 27, 2022.
Mr. Vaughan received his Civil Engineering degree from Georgia Tech. He had a very successful professional career with Beck Construction and retired after 26 years of service with them. One of his favorite pastimes was riding his Harley. He thoroughly enjoyed it and made many wonderful memories with his friends. He will be truly missed by all those who know and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Faye Stanfield Vaughan; and sister, Cindy Frixx.
Mr. Vaughan is survived by his wife of 40 years, JoAnn Carney Vaughan of Fairview Alpha; two daughters, Brandie Massey and husband David of Loganville, Ga., and Christina Smith and husband Wayne of Loganville, Ga.; one brother, Joe Vaughan and wife Carmel of Seneca, SC; seven grandchildren, Jordan Massey, Morgan Massey, Logan Massey, Trey Smith, Chase Smith, Riley Smith and Hannah Smith; step-daughter, DeNeen Wyles and husband Benny; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Wyles Brown and husband Josh, and Ben Wyles; and two step-great-grandsons, Camden Brown and John Everett Brown.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Massey, Trey Smith, Chase Smith, Blake Chadwell, Ben Wyles, David Massey, Wayne Smith and Benny Wyles.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Carney, Terry Holland and Herman Frixx.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Barbara Holland, Sharron Schimmel and Haley Roberts for their loving care and help during this time.
