Ollie Odis “OO (Double O)” Jones Jr., 91, a longtime resident of Houma, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022. OO was born Oct. 5, 1930, in Natchitoches.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Odis Jones Sr. and Cora Roge’ Jones; brother, Roy Jones; wives, Laura Powers Jones and Elta Duet Jones; and stepson, Cade Barbier.
OO is survived by his wife, Mae Jones; brother, Kenneth Jones; children, Buck O. Jones (Jane Ellen), Elise Poplus (Ray), Clint Jones, and Gianna Cothren (William); and grandchildren, Erin Eschete, Holly Jones, Raeanna Poplus Simcoe, Brennen Poplus, Katie Jones, Jonathan Jones Jr. and Chancey Cothren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
OO is also survived by his stepchildren, Chad Barbier and Cody Barbier (Aimee); and grandchildren Bryce, Madyson and Cade Barbier Jr.
He retired from Tennessee Gas in 1996 after 47 years working as a construction engineer. He loved family gatherings, hunting, fishing, motocross racing and telling stories from the past. Each activity brought him joy, as well as many memorable moments with family and friends.
At his request, no service will be held.  He chose to donate his body to science in hopes that their findings will help others.
