Marion Johnston, ASID, was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Interior Designers during the Society’s national conference in Miami, Fla. Sept. 20. She received the honor, one of two in the country, for distinction in the field of interior design and her years of dedicated service and volunteerism to the Society. Johnston practiced interior design for 37 years in New Orleans and retired with husband Donnie to Natchitoches in 2009. Presenting the award was CEO Gary Wheeler, FASID. The presentation was special to Johnston because she and Wheeler are graduates in Interior Design from Louisiana Tech University. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., the American Society of Interior Designers is the oldest, largest and only multi-disciplinary professional organization for interior designers, interior design students and the manufacturers and suppliers who support the profession. ASID‘s mission is to advance the profession and communicate the impact of interior design to enhance the human experience.
