Army instructor Retired First Sergeant Michael Selby expressed his gratitude to all the cadet guardians for supporting the program. While very pleased with the outcome of the competition, he stated that the level of execution of which the program is capable has not been reached, and he looks forward to seeing future levels of achievement.
In his first competition as Senior Army Instructor at NCHS, Retired Major Duane Bailey was pleased to see the level of sportsmanship, teamwork and respect conveyed by all of the Chiefs Battalion cadets and has identified several areas where he will mentor these future leaders of the community.
The Chiefs Battalion will host more than a dozen schools for the 8/108 Spur Challenge drill competition on Oct. 8 at NCHS, but they will not be competing.  The next test for the Chiefs Battalion will be at North Desoto High School on Oct. 15 where they will attempt to build on their initial success.
