The regular season has ended for the Saint Mary’s Tigers, and they enter post season with an impressive 8-1 record. In addition, the Tigers are the 2022 District 3-1A Champions and have been recognized almost weekly for CENLA play of the week or player of the week honors. With the expansion of the select playoff pool, the team has a first-round bye while holding the number five seed.

They have no worries about a first-round loss to their nemesis Metairie Park Country Day this year. That team proved to be a thorn in the side of the Tigers as they lost to them in the first round for the last two seasons. Saint Mary’s will host the winner of the Hanson Memorial versus Delta Charter game.

With a win next week in the regional round, the Tigers would likely travel south in the Quarterfinal round to play the number four seed St. Martin’s Episcopal, that is if there are no upset specials by lower seeded teams. It is the post season, and anything is possible. Win and you advance, lose and you head home.

The Tiger team started the season with the goal of transitioning from a good team last season to a great team this year. They are set up to do just that as they have proven that they can win with their scoring offense and tenacious defense. The offense has put more than 40 points on the score board since week four and the defense has held opponents to single digits in all but three games.

Win the first game in post season and the team will be practicing during Thanksgiving week. Stay tuned for the progression of the team and good luck Tigers!
