From an early age, Andrew showed excitement for life and all he could learn. An avid reader, his enthusiasm for nature, science, playing the violin and powerlifting continue to inspire us. Throughout the years of extreme adversity, Andrew soldiered on with heroic persistence.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and two aunts and uncles, including his distinguished Godfather, Dan Comstock.
Andrew is survived by his parents, Trish and Don Gilbert; his brother, Bryan; aunts; uncles; cousins and faithful friends. With great courage, Andrew did so much more than just endure. As we suffer this immense loss, his example teaches us not to give in, but to prevail.
Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home provided visitation on Jan. 7. The funeral mass was held at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception on Jan. 8. We are most grateful for all present and for the loving condolences and prayers.
