JT knows that former editor Carolyn Roy and her daughter Julie Longlois are LSU Lady Tigers and Coach Kim Mulkey fans, or should we say fanatics. They follow the team closely and saw them play the first game of the Final Four in Dallas last year. They were at the second round of the regionals Sunday in Baton Rouge when the Tigers rejuvenated at halftime and returned to beat Middle Tennessee State (MTSU).

The Northwestern State track and field teams set four conference, facility or national records, highlighting its showing at the Louisiana Classics on Saturday on the campus of UL Lafayette. The women’s 4x100 relay team broke a school record and tied the Southland Conference record, while Diamante Gumbs and the women’s 4x400 relay team each broke the stadium mark, while Gumbs also broke the national record in the hammer throw of his home country, the British Virgin Islands.
