St. Mary’s varsity baseball team went head to head with Southwood March 16. The 3- and-a-half-hour long game started with the Southwood Cowboys up to bat and Slade Bienvenu pitching. Cole Wade hit a grounds out in the first play. Next up to bat was Zach Young who hit toward left field for a double and stole third base on a pitch to Parker Hearne. Hearne hit a fly ball, almost reaching second base.

This risky play allowed Young to make it home. Austin Venable hit a ball that bounced off the catcher’s mitt, making it to first; Jalen Wilson went onto the field in his place as a courtesy runner and stole second base. Bienvenu walked Marcus Quinley and Anthony Dillon walked from a hit-by-pitch.
