NATCHITOCHES – Artwork by Phyllis Lear, artist and professor art history at Northwestern State University, is on display at the Baton Rouge Gallery, Center for Contemporary Art as part of the “YoYo” exhibition, which runs through June 29.

Lear describes her work as encompassing who and what she comes into contact with on a daily basis. In her most recent works, Lear explores the textile art form known as “yo-yo” (Suffolk Puff) as an art form. Traditionally used as a quilting technique, she has appropriated the yo-yo as a module for building fine art pieces.

Gallery hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays. The gallery is located at 1515 Dalrymple Drive, Baton Rouge.  Information is available at batonrougegallery.org/exhibitions.
