On Aug. 12, around 10:28 p.m., officers with the Natchitoches Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Williams Avenue for a vehicle in Cane River. Reportedly, a 2009 Chrysler 300 was traveling northbound when the driver swerved left to avoid hitting a deer. The vehicle when off the roadway and crashed into Cane River. The driver, who was not injured, exited the vehicle.
