The Natchitoches Police Department has been made aware of scammers who are attempting to defraud citizens out of money by posing as Utility Center employees. This is a common phone scam and the Natchitoches Utility Center would never contact any citizen in an attempt to receive any money for utility payments over the phone. If you receive a phone call from a scammer never give them any personal information and end the call immediately. Below are a few ways you can avoid becoming a victim of a scam: * Always be suspicious of unsolicited phone calls or phone numbers you do not recognize. * Never give money or personal information to someone that you do not know. * Always trust your instincts. If it sounds too good to be true it more than likely is a scam. If you have received a fraudulent phone call from a scammer posing as a Utility Center employee or if you would like to report suspicious activity please contact the Natchitoches Police Department at (318) 352-8101.
