NSU names educator inductees

Northwestern State University’s Gallaspy College of Education and Human Development announces this year’s inductees into the Hall of Distinguished Educators. They are the late Cheryl Corkran, the late Linda Marie Doll Lee and James Scriber of Homer.

Early voting starts Saturday for Oct. 11 election

Early voting for the Oct. 11 election is Sept. 27 and Sept 29-30 and Oct. 1-4, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Natchitoches Parish Registrar of Voters Office at 200 Church St. Room 103, which is located on the first floor of the Natchitoches Parish Courthouse.

Construction on new bridge scheduled to begin in 2 years

While it wasn’t on the City Council agenda, Mayor Ronnie Williams Jr. gave an update on when the Church Street Bridge will be replaced.The design is 90% complete and currently, construction should begin in July or August of 2027.LaDOTD will build a temporary bridge and then remove the old bridge.

55th Lambertown Cemetery homecoming is Oct. 5

The Lambertown Cemetery Homecoming will be Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Shamrock Advent Christian Church on Shamrock Loop of Hwy. 120 Homecoming will begin with a devotion at 10 a.m. followed by a business meeting at 11 a.m. Dinner on the grounds will follow the business meeting.
