State C&E working with USGS to investigate cause of tremors

Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy (C&E) announced last week they are working closely with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and universities throughout the state in the attempt to establish a definitive cause for the recent series of earthquakes in the Red River Parish area.

Red River parish Sheriff ’s Office arrested Tabatha Martin, 38, on March 6 for 2 counts of failure to appear for criminal arraignment. She was incarcerated on 2 concurrent $25,000 bonds.Red River Parish Sheriff ’s Office arrested Ronald Bell, 30, on March 7 for failure to appear for criminal trials.

BESE Board proposes increase for school operating costs

The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has sent its proposed Minimum Foundation Program formula to lawmakers, backing a plan that would increase funding for school operating costs.Public school enrollment is projected to fall by roughly 12,000 to 13,000 students.
