Lesche members celebrate friendship and coming of spring

First United Methodist Young at Heart welcomes all

The monthly Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held on March 4 at the First United Methodist Church. Harvey Polk was master of ceremonies and Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal. St. Patrick’s Day decorations were provided by the church’s Grace Circle.

Grand Bayou Lunker Program

Five proud fishermen caught a largemouth bass over 10 pounds from Grand Bayou Reservoir in Coushatta in February. The resort and Grand Bayou Reservoir District will pay for replicas of any bass caught at the lake that is over 10 pounds.

Four earthquakes hit near Edgefield in Red River Parish within 10 minutes beginning at 4:33 a.m. Monday, March 9. The reported magnitudes were 3.1, 3.1, 3.9 and 4.0.The four followed a 2.5 quake just after 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 8.

Former youth minister pleads guilty to 1 count indecent behavior

Former youth minister who was arrested in Feb. 2024 by the Red River Parish Sheriff ’s Office on seven counts of molestation of a juvenile pled guilty to one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
