Lesche members celebrate friendship and coming of spring

The Lesche Club of Natchitoches met for its regular monthly meeting March 2 at the First Presbyterian Church in Natchitoches where members and guests were welcomed for an evening filled with fellowship, delightful refreshments and engaging entertainment.

First United Methodist Young at Heart welcomes all

The monthly Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held on March 4 at the First United Methodist Church. Harvey Polk was master of ceremonies and Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal. St. Patrick’s Day decorations were provided by the church’s Grace Circle.

Grand Bayou Lunker Program

Five proud fishermen caught a largemouth bass over 10 pounds from Grand Bayou Reservoir in Coushatta in February. The resort and Grand Bayou Reservoir District will pay for replicas of any bass caught at the lake that is over 10 pounds.

More earthquakes hit

Four earthquakes hit near Edgefield in Red River Parish within 10 minutes beginning at 4:33 a.m. Monday, March 9. The reported magnitudes were 3.1, 3.1, 3.9 and 4.0.The four followed a 2.5 quake just after 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 8.

Coushatta Police Department arrested Monica Milligan, 45, on Feb. 27 for f ailure to appear for criminal arraignment. She was issued a new court date and released on an OR bond.Red River Parish Sherif f ’s of fice arrested Kenterius Edwards, 33, on Feb.
