President’s Day closures listed

On Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 16, federal, state, and local government offices, courts, and the U.S. Postal Service will be closed, with no regular mail delivery. Banks are also closed.Natchitoches Parish Government offices including the landfill, will be closed on Presidents Day.

Historically Black colleges and universities, often abbreviated as HBCUs, are higher education institutions established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to ser ve Black students.Most HBCUs are in the South and were founded during Reconstruction, mostly by Protestant organizations.

Filo Rosso Duo will play piano and cello at concert at NSU

The Filo Rosso Duo will perform at Northwestern State University on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. A livestream will be available at www.nsu.la/CAPA-LIVE.The Filo Rosso Duo is José Ottonello on cello and Yin Lin on piano.

“Dancescapes” to be performed Feb. 19-21

Northwestern State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present its spring dance concert, “Dancescapes,” Feb. 19-21 in the A.A. Fredericks Auditorium.Performance time is 7:30 p.m. each evening with a 2 p.m. performance on Feb. 21.

A love fund for Richard Adkins has been established at City Bank and Trust, Natchitoches, to help with out-of-pocket expenses related to his hospice care. Richard is known and cared for by many people from all walks of life and from all over town, especially in the music community.
