William Hooper has a new home. The former Northwestern State cornerback is now a member of the New England Patriots’ practice squad, Hooper joined the Patriots after playing 48 snaps in the preseason for the Green Bay Packers, who signed the former secondteam All-Southland Conference performer as an undrafted free agent.
Hooper broke up three passes and collected two tackles before being cut by the Packers following the preseason.
A 6-foot, 180-pound product of Montgomery, Alabama, Hooper started 33 games in his NSU career, appearing in 46 overall. He earned allconference honors as a senior in 2022 after collecting 29 tackles, a team-leading 12 pass breakups and a blocked extra point.
His 1.2 passes defended per game landed him 25th in the FCS in his senior season.
For his career, Hooper had 105 tackles (3.5 for loss), 19 pass breakups, three interceptions, two sacks, a forced fumble and a blocked kick.
