Scriven Albert Taylor Sr. passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2023.
Services were held at First United Methodist Church on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. and burial l followed in Memory Lawn Cemetery.
The family received visitors prior to service from nonn until 2 p.m. in the Crossroads Worship Center at the First United Methodist Church.
A loving and devoted husband and father, Scriven was preceded in death by his wife of almost 53 years, Marilyn P. Taylor, and three wonderful children, Michelle Camille Taylor- Johnson (and husband Michael Johnson) of Shreveport, Scriven (Sonny) Taylor, Jr (and wife Sima Baldwin) of Eugene, Oregon, and Nicole Kristina Taylor-Casida (and husband Joe Casida) of Natchitoches.
Also, four wonderful grandchildren: Clayton Taylor Lewis of Natchitoches, Kayla Lynn Johnson and Christopher Harper and Laurel Marilyn Baldwin-Taylor. He had four great grandchildren, which include McKenzi Johnson, Callie Johnson, Stella Brooks, Kaycen Halthorn.
A professional Realtor, land manager, business executive and entrepreneur, Scriven was born July 29, 1937, in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Sadie and Herman Taylor, Sr.
He attended Northwestern State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Ranger. He was stationed in San Francisco, where he met his wife and after his discharge, they were married July 3, 1964.
Scriven was well known and active in the Natchitoches community. As a people person, he never met a stranger and committed his life to helping others.
Scriven was an avid outdoorsman and loved duck hunting and bass fishing with friends and family. He volunteered at the Natchitoches Shooting Range for over 20 years.
Scriven was an active Mason for over 50 years of Phoenix No. 38. He was a member of the Natchitoches Board of Realtors, where he served as president from 1990 to 1994; was a past president Natchitoches Lions Club; and member of First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his caregiver Barbara; Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home; and Bristol Hospice of Shreveport.
