My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth. Psalm 21:2 Harvey Seth Johnson made his transition from his earthly home to his eternal dwelling Thursday, May 3, 2024.
This unforgettable man was the son and the third child born to the late Joseph J. Johnson and Gloria Manuel Johnson. He was born in Natchitoches La., August 31, 1957.
Harvey accepted Christ at an early age at the First Baptist Church (North Street) under the leadership of the late Rev. G. B. Scott and was a member of the Children’s Choir.
He graduated from Natchitoches Central High School in the class of 1975 and attended college at Northwestern State University where he was initiated into Kappa Psi Fraternity, Inc.
After leaving that institution, Harvey was employed by Trus Joist Plywood Plant and later worked offshore beginning as a deck hand and progressing to the post of Captain Harvey Johnson.
He traveled the world during those 35 years and had a variety of experiences during his tenure. Harvey retired in 2022 and continued to pursue his enthusiastic love of fishing, a hobby that brought him extraordinary joy.
Harvey leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Cyita Brown Grogan of Plano, TX, Octavious Johnson of Natchitoches and Alania Willis Johnson of Columbia, MO; his siblings, Dr. Donald Johnson (T. J.) of Plano, Cheryl Johnson-Hamilton (Gregory) of Natchitoches, Arleen Clayton (Bobby) of Roswell, GA, and Joseph Lanardo Johnson of Natchitoches; an uncle, Isaac Manuel Jr. (Jackie) of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren Jayden Grogan, Kennedy Grogan and Cairo Joseph Cole along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers and Theta Lambda Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Spring 1979 Line (affectionately known as the “Hollywood Hustlers”). Brothers included were Wade Hampton, the late Harvey Seth Johnson, the late George Papillion, Henry Moffett, LaMont Brown Sr. and James Turner.
