Demons start off SLC play with shutout win over Nicholls

    Taylor Spitzer, Isabella Ruggiano and stifling defense helped lead Northwestern State (5-4-1, 1-0) to its fifth consecutive victory, a 2-0 win over Nicholls (2-4-1, 0-1) to begin Southland Conference play.

    It is the sixth consecutive SLCopening victory for the Demons and the six consecutive shutouts matches a program record.
