Early voting begins Friday

Early voting for the Nov. 5 election gets underway Friday, Oct. 18, and continues through Oct. 29, excluding Sunday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 27. The Natchitoches Parish Registrar of Voters Office located on the first floor of the courthouse will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for early voting.

You do not need a reason to vote early. All voters may vote early, just like they are voting on election day. Make sure to take an eligible photo identification such as a driver’s license, Louisiana Special ID; LA Wallet digital driver’s license; a United States military identification card that contains your name and picture; or some other generally recognized picture ID that contains your name and signature. Those who are voting by mail-in/ absentee ballot are reminded the ballots must be returned via mail or hand delivered by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Nov. 1.

On the ballot are 11 candidates for U.S. President/ Vice-President. Additionally, there are five candidates for U.S. House of Representatives in the 6th Congressional District. They are Democrat Quentin Anthony Anderson of Baton Rouge, Democrat Cleo Fields, of Baton Rouge, Republican Elbert Guillory, of Opelousas, Democrat Wilken Jones Jr, of Opelousas and Democrat Peter Williams of Baton Rouge.
