Choirs will combine to present Fall Choral Concert at NSU

The NSU Choirs will hold their Fall Choral Concert on Sunday, Oct. 27. at 3 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free. A livestream of the concert will be available at nsula.edu/capa/capal ivestream.

This performance will feature the Northwestern State University Chamber Choir, Lyrica and Orpheus. The Chamber Choir will be conducted by Director of Choral Activities Dr. Shane Thomas. Associate Director of Choral Activities Adam Philley will conduct Lyrica and Orpheus. With works centered around two iconic words from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1933 inaugural address freshly intertwined with the “spooky season,” the concert titled “Fear Itself ” will interplay a wide variety of choral styles, genres and diversities tinged with elements that celebrate the frightful season.

Lyrica and Orpheus will sing works by celebrated composers like Narverud, Main, Childs, Englehardt, Whitacre and Pederson. They are joined by collaborative artists Dan Ley and Mario Gomez Orellana.
